Freedom of thought and expression are essentially a single right. But just as slavery was justified by stating that slaves were not people, freedom of thought and expression are permitted only so long as they support the official narrative. This has always been the case in dictatorships; but the US has established a new gold standard of hypocrisy, justifying its undeclared wars in the name of freedom while systematically shutting down freedom at home.
